CREATIVE THINKING - THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
Hi, everyone!
In this post I’m going to continue my preparation for
the Persuasive Speech Presentation.
Every speech, especially the persuasive one, should be
built wisely, as it targets to interest, motivate and inspire. In order to fulfill
this aim, we can make a great use of the Methods
of Creative Thinking.
Creative thinking is the ability to consider something
in a new way or come up with a creative idea. It helps to think “outside the
box”.
There are 3 most important Methods of Creative
Thinking, mentioned in our Professor’s book [Уроки ораторского мастерства: С.П.
Хорошилова [с. 27-29]]:
1.
“Lateral thinking” (Edward de Bono)
·
Take a
subject on which you are preparing a speech
·
Pick a word
at random from the dictionary
·
Try and
make a connection between the subject and the word, even if it sounds stupid
2.
Brainstorming method.
It is a method of generating
ideas using free associations. Essentially, the principle is to start with the
word, say the theme of a talk, and to write down the next idea or word that
comes into your head. Form a chain – all your words won’t necessarily relate to
the original word. Even if you seem to be heading in a totally unfamiliar
direction and going off the point, follow your thoughts down the channel.
3.
Mind-mapping. (Tony Buzan)
It uses the technique to
generate ideas which are then mapped on paper. It utilizes both words and
pictures. Pictures are easier to remember.
The technique that attracts me most is “Brainstorming”.
I will try to apply it into practice:
I believe this chain will bring me more ideas about
the topic and will make my speech vivid and interesting to listen to.
What do you think about Brainstorming method? What techniques fo you apply for developing creative thinking?
I'd love to your ideas!:)
