Introduction

What technique(s) was used in the introduction?
Marina started her speech with a set of rhetorical questions:
“Why do I sound so different? Where has my confidence gone? Should I raise my voice and start yelling? It feels like nobody hears me. Why do I have no breath to end a sentence? I mispronounced it again. Why is it getting harder to articulate such simple words? The audience is getting less interested…what should I do?”

I think the questions were quite appropriate. They served as attention-getters. Moreover, these questions were relevant to us, as, to my mind, most of us think of them before giving a speech. This contributed to provoking the audience's interest in the further speech.

To make her introduction more effective, Marina made a reference to the audience: "If you’ve ever asked yourself such questions while giving a speech and after, you probably have some troubles with the delivery of the speech or to be more exact with its prosodic component".

Any link-element?
